  • Craft Comp 2023

Well done to our Cub team for the District Craft Competition. Great Teamwork, Cleanliness and creative skills to make this years theme – ‘A Castle’ secured First place. Good luck on the County round in March!

  • CHILL FACTORE

Cubs enjoyed a few hours at Chill Factore braving the snow. Riding down the luge, donut slide and sledge runs (and the impromptu snowball fight).

  • Cubs Firestation visit.

Our Cubs recently visited Birchwood FireStation to get an insight to a typical day of a FireFighter. They also had the chance to handle the hoses (and try and soak Akela!)

  • CHAMBOREE!!!!

Every 4 years and spectacular international gathering of Scout and Guide groups takes place – Each section is invited to spend some time over the week long camp and this year was no exception for us as we took our Scouts (week camp), Cubs (weekend camp), Beavers (midweek camp) and even our newest section – Squirrels (day visit). With over 100 people from Gorse Covert attending over the week – 9th were officially the largest Group on camp!

The activities were plentiful and kept everyone entertained from dawn til dusk (and a bit into the night). This is truly a great experience for all our group members (adults included) to participate with 1000’s of other Scouts from all around the world.

  • Cubs Craft Competition

    February 2022

Every year we enter the District Cub Craft competition. This involves a team of 6 Cubs (no leaders) and random pre-determined objects. Each Pack in the District come together to design a model on a theme which is revealed at the start of the competition within 2 hours. Teams are marked on a variety of elements, not just the final Model. This year our team came 2nd place – missing out on 1st by 1 point – the theme was ‘Space’.
