  • Operation Moonlight 2024

A team will consist of 4 – 7 Scouts with one adult leader.

The aim of the exercise is to navigate a course from a secret start location to the finish whilst avoiding catchers, and returning with as many lives as possible intact. As a rough guide the course will be 9 hours long and approximately 10 miles on a direct route, however most teams usually walk a greater distance to avoid catchers.

9th Scouts kept the Flag flying entering 3 teams and taking 1st place 3rd and 5th in their age group , they also positioned 3rd, 5th and 8th overall out of 150 teams.

Some very tired legs today but what an amazing achievement from the team ranging from 10-14 years old.

  • CHAMBOREE!!!!

Every 4 years and spectacular international gathering of Scout and Guide groups takes place – Each section is invited to spend some time over the week long camp and this year was no exception for us as we took our Scouts (week camp), Cubs (weekend camp), Beavers (midweek camp) and even our newest section – Squirrels (day visit). With over 100 people from Gorse Covert attending over the week – 9th were officially the largest Group on camp!

The activities were plentiful and kept everyone entertained from dawn til dusk (and a bit into the night). This is truly a great experience for all our group members (adults included) to participate with 1000’s of other Scouts from all around the world.
